Manual Lymphatic Drainage (MLD)
*Add an UPGRADE: Skin Brushing, Crystal Sage Aromatherapy Blend, Gua Sha
MLD massage is manual massage manipulation to the tissues relating to the circulatory & lymphatic system. These 2 systems are separate systems, yet they work together. The lymphatic system detoxifies the body. By releasing these toxins & bacteria, we are improving the overall functioning of the immune system. This therapy has a gentle touch that encourages the movement of lymph fluid & is geared toward filtering our toxins & foreign substances while maintaing health & wellness within the immune system.
How does it Work?
Lymph fluid, a milky or almond oil like fluid, found in the interstitial spaces is collected & transported through the lymphatic system. The circulatory system processes approximately 20 liters of blood through filtration, removing plasma while leaving blood cells. 17 liters of this filtered plasma gets reabsorbed directly into the blood vessels, leaving 3 remaining liters in the interstitial fluid. The lymph system provides an accessory route for these 3 liters to return to the blood. The lymph nodes remove the waste & bacteria.
A sluggish immune system struggles to release & process toxins & bacteria, hence the need for MLD.
Factors affecting the immune system include (but not limited to):
- Lack of movement/ Exercise
- Emotional shock
- Chemical additives
- Swelling (edema)
Benefits include (but not limited to):
- Decreased recovery time after cosmetic surgery
- Assists in fluid retention (edema)
- Improves tissue regeneration with burns, scars, wrinkles & stretch marks
- Decreased symptoms associated with migraines/ headaches
- Improves our immune system & daily vital functions
- Improves local circulation
